THE GRANTSEARCH REGISTER: Information
for Funding Agencies
First published in 1998 (as The Australian Grants
Register), and now entering its third edition, THE GRANTSEARCH
REGISTER is the definitive reference book of Australian funding
sources. It contains descriptions of over 2,800 funding programs
and scholarships covering all regions of Australia, in every type
of activity, and is comprehensively indexed.
Purpose
-
It helps individuals and organisations seeking
financial support to quickly target funding sources with matching
guidelines and eligibility criteria, and refers them to the
appropriate point of contact for further details;
-
It combines information about financial support
offered for all target groups, geographical regions and subject
areas into a single, central resource.
Readership
THE GRANTSEARCH REGISTER is geared towards
grantseekers, and is funded by sales rather than charging fees for
inclusion or relying on advertising revenue. It may be purchased
from bookstores, by special offer to readers of The Australian
newspaper, directly from this website by secure online order form
(which will appear here shortly), and wholesale via library distributors
James Bennett.

Most copies are bought for shared use by libraries,
academic/research institutions, arts and community organisations,
or government departments, so it is difficult to determine
the number of individual readers. Taking both the sales figures
and distribution habits into account, readership size is
likely to be in the region of 60,000 per edition.
Inclusion Policy
-
Entries are included in the main body of THE
GRANTSEARCH REGISTER and the grantsearch
funding database from which it is extracted free of charge
or obligation to the funding agency.
-
As well as being submitted by Funding Agencies
themselves, material is found by consulting media of every
description. Though it may already appear in a number
of publications, grantsearch
does not use second-hand, often contradictory information,
but traces it back to the source.
Requests for Inclusion
-
Organisations offering grants, scholarships, or
other types of financial support awarded through competitive,
merit-based processes are invited to Submit
details for inclusion in the grantsearch
database and future editions of THE GRANTSEARCH REGISTER.
Potential Benefits
-
Readers consulting THE GRANTSEARCH REGISTER
have a wide choice from which to select the most suitable funding
agencies to approach for further details. This in turn has the
effect of reducing the number of inappropriate enquiries which
need to be fielded from intending applicants.
-
Funding agencies on a tight budget may lack the
resources to publicise their programs as widely as they would
like. Being listed in THE GRANTSEARCH REGISTER is an
effective way to reach a diversity of target groups which are
actively seeking financial support.
Potential Drawbacks
-
Usually some form of announcement is made about
new program and funding rounds, but this rarely happens when
they are discontinued or under review. This kind of information
can be difficult to elicit, and the entry remains in limbo after
repeated attempts have failed to establish its true status.
Former administrators are asked to forward
details of any such entries they become aware of and
they will be promptly deleted- it is not our intention to supply
stale information or to generate unwelcome enquiries.
-
Please note that due to limited space,
entries are limited to essential details, and it is not always
possible to accommodate requests for the use of particular text
or keywords. Paid advertisements on our home page are always available on request, and in 8 pages of the printed version. Bookings will open at the following link 2 or 3 months before publication:
Advertising Opportunities
Privacy
-
The grantsearch
database and THE GRANTSEARCH REGISTER do not contain
lists of contact email addresses in a format suitable
for collection by direct marketers, nor is this information
passed on to any third party.
-
Email addresses are used for occasional broadcast
messages relating to entries appearing in grantsearch
or THE GRANTSEARCH REGISTER. These are generated
from an administrator read-only database residing on a
firewall-protected PC, do not exist as a separate entity,
and do not form part of an Address Book or mailing list.
Once messages have been sent, this virtual file is automatically
destroyed.
